DAY 1: TVERSTED - KANDESTEDERNE

Your first day at the North West Sea Camino offers an unforgettable hiking experience through some of Northern Jutland’s most stunning landscapes.
The route starts in peaceful Tversted Klitplantage and tkes you past the idyllic Tversted Lakes where the landscape suggest peace and immersion.
On the way, you will see the windmill Østerklit Stokmølle – a perfect spot to take a break and enjoy the beautiful surroundings before continuing towards Skiveren. This part of the route will take you through a protected area with a unique peace and beauty.
Before arriving in Kandestederne where you will stay the night, awaits one of Denmark’s most impressive nature experences: Råbjerg Mile. This enormous moving dune with its more than 3,5 million m³ sand is a true giant in the northern landscape and a sight that will stay with you for a long time.
The first day of your hiking trip ends with an overnight stay at the magnificent Hjorths Badehotel from 1890. Here, you are welcomed by an atmosphere of charm and authenticity. Every single bedroom has it’s own unique style inviting you to relax and reflect on your full day. The perfect place to rest your legs and recharge for the following day’s stretch.

DAY 2: KANDESTEDERNE - SKAGEN

- Overnight stay: Color Hotel Skagen
This day’s stretch calls for peace, reflection, and mindfulness. You start with a long hike along the beach where the beat of the sea sets the pace, until the route takes you to Skagen Klitplantage. The plantation was established in 1888 to stop the vast sand drift. which threatened the area. Today, it is a true paradise for bird watchers. Here, you can experience a rich birdlife and perhaps be lucky enough to spot flocks of birds immigrating.
En tour towards Skagen you will pass The Church of the Dunes – a fascinating reminder of the power of nature. The church tower stands in solitude among the sand dunes as a reminder of the history of the drifting sand and the area’s harsh nature.
Following the hiking stage of the day, you can look forward to a relaxed evening at the 4-star Color Hotel Skagen. Here, you may rest your feet in the outdoor spa, dive into the heated pool, or let your muscles recover in the indoor sauna.
If you fancy exploring some more, you are right in the middle of Skagen’s charming old town centre with its quaint streets and unique atmosphere.
At this last evening of you holiday you may pamper yourself with dinner at Restaurant Holger in the hotel. They offer an exquisite à la carte menue. Here, you can indulge in a culinary experience as the icing on the cake of a day full of outdoor experiences and reflexion.

DAY 3: SKAGEN

There is a world of possibilities if you wish to investigate the Top of Denmark. On this last day of your hiking holiday it is entirely up to you which experiences to choose.
Perhaps you will take the Lugworm (a minitrain) to Grenen, the most northern point of Denmark. This is where the North Sea meets Kattegat in a beautiful dance. Or you may visit The Grey Light House, which is the second tallest Danish light house measuring 46 metres.
From this point you can indulge the magnificent view of the whole area. Moreover, the light house contains a nature- and bird information centre offering intruiging exhibitions of the rich wildlife in the area.
The holiday ends at the Color Hotel Skagen where our minibus will pick you up at 2 pm to take you back to the starting point in Tversted. The busride takes app. 40 minutes. Feel free to bring beverages onboard for the ride.

DIFFICULTY LEVEL
The landscape along Jutland's west coast is characterised by flat terrain and a few minor hills. On the stretch from Tversted to Skagen you will encounter idyllic tranquil landscapes inviting you to decompress with your feet in your hiking boots.
SURFACE
Most of the hike will take place primarily on the beach, a few gravelroads. plantation trails, and the main trail (Route 1) along the West Coast.
FOOD ON THE HIKE
A good start of the day is imperative on a hiking holiday, hence breakfast at the hotels are included in the price. As for lunch and dinner, you have the liberty to choose when and wherever suits you best. To make it easy for you we have prepared a food guide providing you with an overview of the best places to eat along the route from Tversted to Skagen.
