Jump into the saddle and explore the most spectacular landscapes from the front row. On this biking holiday at the Top of Denmark, awaits grand nature experiences, Denmark’s largest moving sand dune and one of the West Coast’s most beautiful coastlines – all at your own pace.
The route stretches from Slettestrand to Skagen with daily stages of 40-50 km, thus you have plenty of time to enjoy the impressive surroundings.
On the way, you will stay at the charming hotels, Kallehavegaard Seaside Hotel in Løkken, Montra Skaga Hotel in Hirtshals, and Color Hotel Skagen.

DAY 1: SLETTESTRAND - LØKKEN

Your biking holiday starts in the morning by Rønnes Hotel in Slettestrand, where you strap on your helmet and head off along the coast. Here, you can feel the fresh sea air and enjoy the sight of the waves rolling towards the shore. On the way await cosy coastal towns and impressive landscapes – from charming Blokhus to the wavy hills in Kettrup Bjerge just South of Løkken.
After a day filled with unforgettable adventures in the bike saddle you will arrive at Kallehavegaard Seaside Hotel in Løkken. This newly refurbished seaside hotel, having welcomed guests since 1902, is located only 10 minutes‘ walk from Løkkens buzzing town centre and just 500 m from the broad, white sandy beach.
You will stay in lovely bright hotel rooms where you can relax and let your body rest after a beautiful day with app. 45 km cycling.
Should you wish to pamper yourself even more you may visit the wellness department with sauna, spa, and cold plunge pool (at a fee).

DAY 2: LØKKEN - HIRTSHALS

The second day of the holiday takes you from Løkken to Hirtshals and offers rich opportunity for beautiful stops by some of the coastline’s most picturesque places. For instance, have a welldeserved break by Rubjerg Knude, Northern Jutlands‘ largest tourist attraction, where the impressive Rubjerg Knude Lighthouse stands tall, dramatically close to the edge of the moving sand dune.
In the late afternoon or in the evening, when arriving to Hirtshals, awaits a comfortable night at the 4-star Montra Skaga Hotel. Here you can pamper your tired muscles after a good day’s stage by visiting the hotel’s pool and sauna, free of charge.
Montra Skaga Hotel is within walking distance of both attractions and the lively harbour area. It also has a restaurant, where you can enjoy tasty Danish classic food. A perfect ending to a day full of outdoor experiences.

DAY 3: HIRTSHALS - SKAGEN

On the third day of the biking holiday you will bike through the beautiful plantation by Tversted – not to mention the idyllic Tversted Lakes – before the route continues through Bunken Klitplantage (dune plantation), where you will find Denmarks largest moving sand dune, Råbjerg Mile. Shortly before you reach Skagen you can choose to take a break by The Buried Church – Den Tilsandede Kirke – which is a fascinating historical attraction.
Your biking holiday is concluded by beautiful accommodation in the 4-star Color Hotel Skagen, where comfort and wellbeing go hand in hand. You may want to relax in the outdoor spa, take a refreshing plunge into the heated pool, get warm again in the sauna, or just savour the calm and quiet in the roofed patio area.
Should you wish to experience even more, Skagen offers charming streets with the characteristic yellow houses, great cafes, and a very special atmosphere which is even more unique with its characteristic light on a sunny afternoon or a warm summer evening. In fact, the light in Skagen is internationally know for its special brightness, especially among artists and art connoisseurs.
In the evening, you may pamper your tastebuds with delicious à la carte menu in Color Hotel Skagens own restaurant, Restaurant Holger, which is highly recommendable.
DAY 4: SKAGEN

How far you want to bike and how much you want to experience on this last day of your biking holiday is entirely up to you. However, a world of experiences and attractions awaits you at the Top of Denmark. Go for a stroll through Skagen and you will see the characteristic yellow houses and intriguing museums or visit the beautiful white sandy beaches.
Complete your visit with a ride in the local tractor-driven train Sandormen (The Lugworm) to the very top of Denmark, Grenen, where the two seas Skagerrak and Kattegat meet in a swirling dance.
At 2 pm you will be picked up by our minibus in front of Color Hotel Skagen. The minibus will take you back to the point of departure in Slettestrand together with the bikes and luggage. The busride will take app. 2 1/2 hours. Feel free to bring beverages for the ride.
Return transportation back to the point of departure

DIFFICULTY LEVEL
The flat terrain with only a few minor hills characterise the landscape along Jutland's Westcoast. On the stretch from Slettestrand to Skagen you will experience idyllic and peaceful natural surroundings where you can totally relax while pressing the peddles.
THE SURFACE
You will primarily be cycling on tarmacced bikepaths, just a few gravelroads through woods, and stonepowdered paths. We recommend that you use a citybike, mountainbike, normal bike, or an electric bike for the trip
FOOD ON THE TRIP
A good start of the day is imperative, especially on an outdoor trip. Hence, breakfast buffet is included in all the hotels in your biking holiday. Lunch and dinner is at your own choie and expense, so you have to liberty to choose when and where suit you best. To make it easyer for you, we have prepared a food guide, which provides you with an overview of the best places to eat along the route from Slettestrand to Skagen.
